Hlx knockout mouse embryo E17.5. The homeobox transcription factor Hlx is required for normal embryonic growth and may play a role in development of the enteric nervous system. Enteric neurons were identified by immunostaining in Hlx knockout and wild-type mouse embryos and the migration of neurons throughout development was compared.
